Erasmus+: Excitement and anticipation, Vocational Training students from the Galdakao Hospitality School prepare for their Erasmus experience abroad
The Erasmus+ program has once again opened doors for Vocational Training students from the Basque Country to gain international mobility. More than 400 students will benefit from this opportunity during the current academic year, allowing them to experience training abroad and develop their professional skills in a real work environment. This initiative, promoted by the Basque Government's Department of Education and the Ikaslan Mobility Consortium, aims to strengthen the training of future professionals while fostering their autonomy and adaptability to different European labor markets.
One of the participating centers in this program is the Galdakao Hospitality School, a member of the Ikaslan Mobility Consortium. During the 2024-2025 academic year, three students from the Intermediate Level Bakery, Pastry, and Confectionery program will take part in the initiative, completing their dual Workplace Training (FCT) at companies in Bordeaux, Florence, and Bergamo from March to May.
The chosen destinations, France and Italy, will provide these students with the opportunity to gain experience in prestigious bakery and pastry establishments. They will be able to apply the knowledge acquired in the classroom while developing new techniques in an international setting. Additionally, this mobility will promote cultural exchange and language skill improvement, contributing to their personal and professional growth.
Furthermore, for the first time, the Galdakao Hospitality School has its own K131 project, which has facilitated the participation of three students from the Culinary Management program in this initiative. These students will have the opportunity to complete their dual FCT in La Valletta and Silema, Malta, during the same period. This project reinforces the school's internationalization efforts and opens new opportunities for students in the hospitality sector.
The Erasmus+ program, a key component in the internationalization of Vocational Training, is becoming an essential tool for improving the employability of young people in the Basque Country. The experience abroad not only enhances students' technical training but also strengthens their autonomy, adaptability, and ability to work in diverse environments.
The Basque Government, the Ikaslan Mobility Consortium, and the Galdakao Hospitality School continue to support initiatives that enhance the quality of Vocational Training in the Basque Country, promoting innovative learning opportunities aligned with the demands of the European labor market.
It is important to highlight that both Intermediate and Advanced Level mobilities are funded by European funds and the Basque Government.
Excitement and anticipation are the main ingredients for these students as they eagerly embrace this opportunity to grow professionally.
