HOSSKILLS: Enhancing Digitalization in the Hospitality Sector

We are pleased to announce the launch of the Hosskills Project, an initiative funded by Erasmus under Key Action 2023-2-ES01-KA210-VET-000174800.

The project, coordinated by the Galdakao Hospitality School along with Aalborg Institute (Denmark) and Cyber Dacians (Romania), aims primarily to improve digital skills in the hospitality sector. With the rapid digital transformation reshaping how businesses operate, the Hosskills Project seeks to empower hospitality professionals with the tools and knowledge needed to succeed in an increasingly digital world.

Four Key Pillars of the Hosskills Project

The project is built around four important pillars designed to boost digitalization in the hospitality sector:

  1. Creating Motivational Videos: We will produce impactful videos featuring success stories of entrepreneurs who have successfully integrated technology into their hospitality businesses. These stories will highlight how digital tools have transformed their operations and helped them grow, inspiring others to embrace innovation.

  2. Developing Digital Educational Materials: The project will create high-quality, didactic digital content to train hospitality professionals in the use of new technologies. These resources will be designed to be accessible, engaging, and practical, equipping users with the skills they need.

  3. Ensuring Quality: Every aspect of the project will meet strict quality standards, ensuring that all materials and activities are relevant, effective, and up-to-date with the latest industry trends.

  4. Promoting the Project: A comprehensive outreach campaign will be launched to share the project's materials with as many entrepreneurs as possible. This will ensure that the resources developed reach a wide audience, maximizing the impact on the hospitality sector.

First Transnational Meeting: Romania and Denmark Partners Come Together

On October 1st and 2nd, the first transnational meeting of the Hosskills Project took place at the Galdakao Hospitality School in Spain. Partners from Romania and Denmark gathered for two days of productive work, knowledge exchange, and collaboration. This in-person event marked a significant milestone in the project’s development, fostering stronger connections between partners and setting the stage for the next steps.

Work Packages and Mutual Knowledge

The sessions focused on two main areas:

  1. Work Packages: Detailed presentations and discussions were held around the project's work packages. Each partner was assigned leadership roles for specific tasks, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow as the project progresses.
  2. Mutual Understanding: Beyond the discussions, participants were able to enjoy the local cuisine, prepared by the hospitality school's culinary and service students. As expected, the guests had the opportunity to taste traditional dishes such as bacalao al pil pil, the well-known gilda, croquettes, and more, showcasing the local gastronomic richness.
  3. Entrepreneurial Profiles: The group also had the opportunity to visit Egun On Desayunos, a local business, to evaluate the profile of an entrepreneur as a potential protagonist for the project's impactful stories. This visit provided valuable insights into how local entrepreneurs are applying digital tools to their business growth.

What’s Next?

The next steps will involve further developing the digital tools and training materials designed to improve the skills of hospitality professionals. The team is committed to ensuring that the outcomes of the project benefit the industry and help navigate the challenges brought by digitalization.

Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to work towards improving digitalization in the hospitality sector!
